I am not sure if it makes sense to define these things beforehand. In the example of the scaffolding, at first there was the model for the wind generator by Mimmo_O, we liked it and then tried to adhere to the style for future models involving scaffolding. It is natural to orient the design of new models to fit with the others, so showing sketches / renderings of existing models in that matter would make more sense to me to describe the styling.
