Since the latest changes, I find the view range into solid area too deep. In scenarios with low view range and a few caves, you can see pretty much everything and caves lost their feeling of darkness a bit.

What about reducing the view range into solid a bit again but increasing it if the clonk carries a torch?

Sounds good to me, I have the feeling a 20% to 40% reduction might do the trick and keep the current levels for the torch.
