Hey guys, who is going to the FOSDEM 2012 in Brussels? I'll most probably go there. Perhaps we can book a hostel together?
But here is the interesting thing: This year, there will be a Open Source Game Development devroom. Have a look at the announcement for the Call for Speakers.
Off the top of my head, I can already think of some interesting topics to fill a quick 15-30min talk (generally about OC from technical point of view, or C4Script, network code, landscape shader, mesh rendering). What do you guys think? Can you imagine to do a talk about e.g. your field of expertise in OC?
The deadline for submissions is December 23rd, 23:00 GMT+1.
Well, I could certainly contribute a few slides about my parts. Not sure the landscape shader is really that impressive technically, it would be more of a "fun idea" thing, I suppose. And hm, for talking about networking I'd really need a better position on PreSend than "no idea - somehow Sven's hack seems to work fine though" :-)
Probably 5 minutes "What's Clonk" plus two topic at two slides each, I'd say. Still, not sure that there's enough in the shader to talk about for two slides.
The trick is to not have everything on the slides that you're going to say - yet everything you're talking about. And this would be only about the landscape and what it should look like, wouldn't it?
Edit: And hey, a chance to shamelessly plug my stuff! ;)

>During exactly 15 minutes, one person gets to present the project or any aspect of it.
one person only?
How un-opensaucy. There should be at least three people allowed, presenting at least five different, contradicting opinions.
Deadline tomorrow.
I suppose nobody is going to speak at the FOSDEM then? :-(
Edit: Or well, the information one has to give there to "register" is not that much, if there is the will, I think its possible to fire something up for tomorrow evening. I am especially thinking about you, Peter, cause the stuff you have been doing is really interesting. As I will go to the FOSDEM anyway, I can and want to help (f.e. make some more general/introductory slides) but I can't think of any particularly interesting topic that I have been involved in thats why I have no initiative to put something together myself alone.
I also completely forgot about it in all the christmas-stress, now I just remembered and am quite motivated to do it.

Well, if they want to have us, it seems like a reasonably quick and easy thing to do. I can get a direct flight to BrĂ¼ssel, for what it's worth. Can also make a few slides as required.
Can I help you in any way to respond to the call for speakers?
Well, you could have told me earlier that you expected me to do that ;P
Sorry, I am fresh back to Germany and very distracted with all sorts of Christmas-related stuff right now.

Well, I don't know your bio and all the other info regarding that talk.
So, did you respond for the call for speakers yesterday?
