It is already fast because I can burn down 50 trees at once with more than 30+FPS here but it is not optimized, no. A few lines can be combined and I could add something like "Don't spam more smoke if there are other burning objects right text to you.". And a few particles can maybe lowered without changing the appearance of the fire. Give me a few days, then I test it on my old low-end Intel mobile laptop which was even too bad to start OpenClonk with high-resolution. ;)
