Yes, both of these two formats have got their advantages and disadvantages. Now I ask you, which of them you prefer. Maybe this helps to decide, which format should be used for open clonk.

If you don't know anything about these two formats, look here:
MIDI: MIDI is 16 Channels which contain musical informations. The sound will be generated by your Hard-/Softwaresynthesizer.
MOD (and also XI, XM, S3M, IT): MOD formats can have 4 - XXX (depending on the format) channels which contain musical informations like MIDI, but the instruments are included within the file (They are waveforms/shapes).

MOD formats are a lot friendlier from a technical point of view, so as a listener and engine coder I'd really prefer them to midis. But if somebody needs to use midi because they do not have any free instruments to use for their composition, we probably won't refuse to use the music.

Why not Vorbis? But I would prefer mod, really. Sounds much better sometimes.

Vorbis doesn't have any quality improvement over sequencer files since the source samples are the same, but causes a larger file size.

As I know, Vorbis (I think you mean OGG Vorbis) will be supported. I mentioned it in the Quickhelp topic.

What about including both?

It's kind of useless to put two kinds of music in the default package, one of which sounds like a drunken monkey playing the flute in an old steel drum.

Does this exclude real audio music? Or would it be aditional to ogg, mp3...whatever?

No, of course not. OGG will be supported as I know. MP3 might cause licensing problems, so it wont be supported.

>real audio music

Is there fake audio?

well, for me it's music that's not played by real instruments... ;-)
but you got what my question aimed for.
