Blender Question:
Is it easily possible to join multiple object with seperate UV-Maps together to one object without the UV-Map getting completely messed up?

Yes, no. You have to think of the UV islands in the scope of their texture: If you use two materials for, lets say, the wheel and the beams, it's not a problem if the uvs are in the same "place". If you want to use a single texture, you'll have to rearrange the uvs and eliminate overlap (exceptions may be tileable textures, symmetry setups or parts of the mesh that just re-use the same texture). Possibly you'd want to create the new UV set and bake the textures from the old materials over as a base.
