I am doing the second part of the storyline, the crash-landing, and I cannot figure out how to save the game. I know it can't be that we have to actually finish those hours long segments just to save our advancement.
If that's the case, we're not all teenagers. We can't devote 6 hour chunks of time to figure out and finish each segment. We need to be able to save our game.
Anyhow, if you know how to save the game, please let me know. I can't seem to find anything to save the game.
EDIT:
THANK YOU!!!! SO MUCH!!! Both of you. If I start having any issues with reloading saves, I will look into using that autocompiler.
And you know, the thing is, I've actually seen that menu, but I can't for the life of me remember seeing an option to save. It was there, sure enough, but I don't remember seeing that blue diskette to save.

It's in the player menu, which opens on one of the keys to the right of the controls. I think it's on "F"?
Note that due to a stupid bug, reloading a savegame in 6.0 takes quite a bit of time; you may want to use a recent autobuild where this is fixed.
I think there should be a save Menu when you press ESC, instead von F.
It might be intuitive in general to translocate most if not all of the common per-player-menu features to the often used Esc button into a proper menu.
I want the game menu on F10 or something and have ESC free so that ESC can close ingame menus :x
But then that has to be visible somewhere on the screen. E.g. like the menu on F10 here: http://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/33500000/Warcraft-III-Reign-of-Chaos-screenshot-warcraft-3-33559310-800-600.jpg
It's not that easy. Closing the menus would need to be synchronized with the script. Opening the game menu must not be synchronized. Otherwise you could not open the menu when the game hangs due to network lag etc.
I see!
Does the engine know if it hangs? Maybe it could open the options menu if it detects that all other menues are frozen?

The engine obviously knows the current game speed (as shown on the top-right when enabled). However, making controls dependent on this would be really annoying in laggy rounds as you'd accidentally open this menu all the time.
And furthermore the easy to reach F button would be free again for perhaps another more often used functionality.
