Hey, after a discussion with matthi, we came to the resulot, that wolves would fit into the new graphic style... hope you like him. 324 Triangles...
Left side is without smoothing. right side is with *g*

Gotta ask... Why can't we keep wipfes?
Anyway... Black on his back and rest bright-brownish? Perhaps like the one at right here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wolves_and_elk.jpg The choice is not that small... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_(disambiguation)#Animals

i made it brown for the first time. but i think it wont be a great problem to make its in different colors, now the first thing is done.
The eye was zappers idea..!

edit: i made different browns. i like NR2 and NR5 best.

I think we should simply use different looks for the wolfes like the horses in western.

Made an HighPolyVersion of the mesh and baked the textures. It is not rigged yet (may another person could do that?)

I'm not doing anything at the moment. If you supply the .blend file, I can rig it.

You can take the wulf.mesh.xml (its the OGRE format), import it, make a rig of it and export it.

I don't think the OGRE script package came with an import script, did it? I couldn't find one in the zip, and it doesn't give me the option to import .xml's in blender.

Might be just me. :S

Took me a bit longer than expected, but here it is. Fully rigged, and added 3 animations (Idle, Bite, Walk).

PS: Sorry it took so long for me to actually upload the file from when I posted... (joys of dial-up)

EDIT:
Well, didn't have much inspiration for what to work on at the moment... so I made a couple more animations for the wolf. (death and howl) I'll upload this later when I get to a wireless hotspot, I suppose.

If you'd like the wolf files, they are in the resource repository.

I've created a small video showing the (hopefully) completed wolf if anyone's interested. :)

Great! The last time I looked at the wolf in the repository, there seemed to be an error with the animaion. It only played the bite animation. But the problem may lie in my blender or behind the keyboard in this case. The walk-animation seems a bit odd though - at least chopped (not smooth) at the end for looping.

As newton said, the walk-animation is not 100% loopable. The run-animation also looks kinda weird, it looks like he simply wiggles his back feet very fast. The body has to respond more to such a walking-method. Use his knees to move the body more while running - for example when the back feet reach the most-forward-position, the lower end of the body should go down, so when he pushes himself away with the feet you really notice a push, when the body goes back up (and maybe even lift the front-part a bit).

I corrected the shape of the wolf, especially the head to look better and more wolf-like. And I experimented a bit with texture, I think the outcome is very good - take a look at it :-)

Holy smokes, that's a good wolf. Reminds me of the oblivion wolf, except this one has a proper texture. :3

One thing I would have liked change with any existing wolf mesh was it needed another loop at it's haunches (buttocks). When it sits down for the howl animation it looks fairly strange.

I'd also like to have a proper attack animation which involves jumping at the enemy while biting (see Oblivion or something... ;-))... ah, and a jump animation actually ^^

I'll see if I can work on those this evening.

This model seems done and animated, can anyone create the OGRE files, I would also like to implement this.

I had started to script a bit for the wolf. I commited now the things that are already there and the model. I hope it helps.
