And personally I think that's how things should be as well. Add what seems like fun, not what seems like it fits, that can be reworked later, game is only in initial phase right now.

I don't think that that would be a Problem. Else do it just as InEx. Make all Graphics by yourself.
Long time, I have an Idea for a possible, but un-neutral genre too: I very like the style of the Movie The Nightmare before Christmas. The style also found his top in the faboulus Game World of Goo.
Just let all people who can make graphics with their style. And then, when one style had proven, only allow that style. Thats the way the most openSource Games do it.

I think especially the Clonk 3 title fits in the image we are heading for... more details, more emotions, etc. just great :)

When we only talk about the graphics-style-genre, I could imagine a choice in the options-menu, so that everyone has the style he likes.

If you are serious there: No. You cannot provide models of each object for each graphic style.

Player created contents have nothing to do with the "official" game contents.
The real question is: What's the genre with which we would get the best and most artwork? How far do we dare to depart from that which brought us all together? And which art style do you want to use? You can paint a medieval hut in lots of different ways...

I think, the more complicated a structure ist (chemical factory... erm... workshop) the more the neutral Clonkstyle should mix up with the Steampunk.
In my opinion - menu should look similliar to Clonk Rage, as it is good. Loader graphics should be hand-drawn (but rather not anime-stylized, as it wouldn`t fit Clonk even a bit). About in-game graphics the best idea would be to do like in most Open Source games - let the community decide, after some graphics had been made we will choose one of styles.
