Currently we are lacking a critical mass (read players at all) for self-sustaining online play. What I mean by that is the fact that you can't just say, oh let's play a round online, cause there are not any games hosted.
Well we all know the vicious circle where there is no point in hosting cause there are no players, and there is no point in looking for games cause there are no hosts.
So my goal would be to attain this critical mass at least once per week, and invite new players via the blog (to play with the devs and other players of course). Maybe post some screens or video captures of cool rounds
from time to time. Which might attract more players. The idea is quite simple and straightforward, just pick a time slot of around 2-4 hours to play a few rounds with a group of 4-10 players and the rest will go by itself.
All remains is figure out the best time slot, so if you want to play select the times you are mostly available during the week and I will try to organize a thing.

This is a great Idea Maikel. It might frustrate new players if there are no online games when they come online, but we can change it his way.
Also, we should make more advertisement, like uploading videos to youtube or post good pictures somewhere in social networks or forums, as maikel already mentioned. I could make some nice pictures and share it on g+ for example (where was the screenshot-key btw.?)

Nice work Maikel!:)
I will try to attend this Clonk-session as often as possible:D

I already see a slight preference for Sunday evening, for which I hoped and also expected actually. But I'll leave the poll open until Saturday afternoon or so, and will write a blog entry then to attract some more players.
But for now it seems we can start this Sunday evening already.

I don't know how much OpenClonk actually uses, but iirc CR was playable with a 56k modem. The crucial thing for online play are stable pings.
The speed of light in cables under water is the same as the speed of light in cables underground ;)

So I think the night went pretty well all in all!
I'll probably upload some screen shots in the near future and maybe even a short video if I find the time...
First problem is to keep this going however, since I am not there next week on Sunday, we need at least two people to host, which should not be so hard to organize.
In the end we want the night to become self-sustaining and not depend on some devs hosting rounds. So next time take initiative and just host some rounds, people
will surely come!
Also feedback on the scenarios is very much appreciated, so please share them in the relevant boards in this forum!

Also, the new moon looks amazing!

Will post them tomorrow or so.. :)
And I'll see into making a video of some rounds or just sending Maikel some .avis so he can compile them into one video(?)
I wish I could make a .gif of when I used a wind scroll to try and kill Newton, but then I ran forward and blew myself off of the map. But the replay won't work :(

The program I used to convert .avi to .gif was:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openavitogif/
short descriptions: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/openavitogif-generate-animated-gif-images-from-avi-videos/
I believe I used every third or fourth frame and adjusted the frame-delay accordingly
Just a reminder for tomorrow evening, I won't be there at the start, my train arrives at nine in Hamburg so please do host a few rounds, if you are able, and gather interesting replays.
