Oi, these are some rather large mushrooms. I wonder whether I could build a bridge out of them..

Whoa! Like it. I'd also like to see a glowing equivalent.

The shapes are very cool but they are faar too dark and brownish in my opinion. They should be more colorful (++saturation) as well.

Also regarding the placement, I think they should not each reach the tunnel ceiling but stop (growth) already before.

They don't spread upwards :3 - PS: they probably do, but not that much!

PS: The brown was intended here. I wanted to make the "this is wood!!!"-property extra-clear. I want more colorful mushrooms, too and already have some ideas for those. But are you sure that this would be a good decision for the wood-mushrooms?

Mushtree:

A symbiosis between mushroom and tree. Biologists assume this obscure plant originated from trees that were infected with fungi. It somehow turned out that this collective had advantages over other lifeforms in dark caves and so it claimed that ecological niche for itself. While the tree provides stability, the fungus provide both lifeforms with nutrients and energy.

Trees are also not brown but mainly green. With colorful I didn't mean all colors of the rainbow but to let them stand out more from the brown earth and the dark brown tunnel material. After all, these are no decoration objects and no background objects but vegetation that is as important as e.g. trees which also are visible quite nicely (cause they are green).

Simply the size of the mushrooms ought to clue players in that they can be chopped as trees.

Mh, or they should explode into ashes like trees when becoming too small?

Why does the color in this pic look so odd? Does it have something to do with the lights branch?
Parent - - By Zapper [de] Date 2013-02-25 19:39
I just fooled around a bit with PhotoImpact to make the mushrooms more dramatic!
Parent - - By Pyrit Date 2013-02-25 19:44
All the drama got jpeged to death :(
Parent - By Zapper [de] Date 2013-02-25 20:00
That was on purpose. With those kind of pictures I usually just put the quality as low as possible

Doesn't look like you could build a bridge out of those ;)

I know how blue mushrooms would look like and I will create some in near future as I have pretty concrete plans. But not as a wood ressource - because they will simply not look like one.

It's from Skyrim, the "Blackreach". It's like a large, forgotten cave.
