You guys remember the last we played that? I believe I was the first person to be hung. On very shaky logic.

Is anyone interested in having another game? I've got a bit of an urge to host one.

For those of you that don't know about what I'm talking about, "Werewolf" is a variant of a party game called "Mafia". The players are divided into two groups. Most people are villagers. There is nothing special about them. A small number of people are Werewolves. The Werewolves all know each other, but the villagers don't know anyone's identity apart from their own. Each in-game "day", everyone (including the werewolves, in disguise) vote to execute a player. At the end of the day, whoever has the most votes is hung, and it is revealed whether they were a villager or a werewolf. Then, the werewolves pick one person to kill in the night.

The villagers win by killing all the wolves, the wolves win by killing enough villagers that there are as many villagers as wolves
(Example: If there are 4 villagers and 3 wolves, and one of the villagers is then lynched or eaten, the werewolves win.)

We could also choose to have special roles randomly allocated within the villagers. The "Baner" can choose one person to protect each night. If the wolves attack this person, the attack fails. The "Seer" can choose one person to investigate each night. He will be told if that player is a werewolf, a special role, or a villager. You can also have two "Masons". Masons are normal villagers, except that they each know the other's identity, and can trust each other from the start.

I think it will be pretty difficult to coordinate the two parties with this forum (because of the private discussions). Is there a similar game that has less (non public) overhead?

The werewolves' first kill was last night, which was a full moon. By the time of the next one, you'd all be dead.

Seriously, I have actually put some thought towards the story-telling aspect of the game, and I think it would be fun. Is there really no-one else who feels like playing?

Yeah, the internet does change the dynamic of the game a bit.

But trust, good internet games are possible. Very possible. And I think they have the potential to be even better than real-life games.

Voting is the only player interaction allowed? So we'd have to identify werewolves based purely on the fact that they're less likely to vote for other werewolves?

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this.

No. There is a private board for the werewolves where they can coordinate actions, and a public board where everyone can try to convince others. And of course, total absence from that board is a statement, too.

That's an understatement. In this game, interpreting votes is an art-form.

Also, there's the Seer, who can pick one player per night to investigate, and is told whether or not they're a werewolf.

Same as any game: To have fun. Also, there is the potential for awesome.
