EDIT: Sorry I just realized forgot to change the subject.

Hi, I used to use eclipse but stopped because it's a memory hog and I'd rather use the terminal for programming.

However, I wanted to make sure the guide at http://wiki.openclonk.org/w/C4DT_Installation_Guide didn't need updating and I wanted to run through the entire eclipse guide to see what needed improving. At first Instead of going to the eclipse download page I used apt-get to install eclipse which I later found out was not a good idea so I then downloaded the pakage off the site but the problem persisted.

The clonk plugin seems to installs ok, but right after restart there isn't a clonk option in perspectives. I re-installed C4DT multiple times. At one point I got a bunch of errors that said something about the "widget is obsolete" but that was with the older version of eclipse. I can't seem to find the "error log" it tells me to check when I click on the C4DT plugin in the plugins window (found by typing plugin in the quick access bar).

Oh.. That sounds like something is more broken than the usual level of brokenness to be expected with Eclipse. Which version was it? 4.3?
By the way, I think it might have been "Widget disposed" which means that internally Eclipse tries to use some controls which already have been released.

Have you tried downloading the Linux Eclipse package from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads and running that instead of the version installed by apt-get?

sorry thought I made that clear. I tried both the repository eclipse (indigo) and the newest version from the site you linked. It looks like indigo is 3.7 http://wiki.eclipse.org/Older_Versions_Of_Eclipse

That sounds right. But I only got that with the indigo version. The newer one just says to check the error log but I have no clue where that is located.

Thanks

Incoherent list of items:
-Not very helpful, I know but.. works for me :v

-You can get to the error log by typing Error log into the Quick Access thingie or Window -> Show View -> Other.. type error
-Eclipse does not play well with Ubuntu Unity's main menu so export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 is required to get in-window main menu :u
