Loam itself - is just some kind of a soil (is is a mixture of sand, clay and silt actually, but never mind):

In nature it is not found in a form of chunks (balls, pieces, clots etc...). But it is sometimes used for house construction and can be shaped manually to some kind of bricks:

So the question is obvious: how should we actually represent (and implement) it?
(I suppose the same "leave it be" approach applies for flints as well)
We might need to add a game rule whether you can dig out loam naturally, of course, because some scenarios might not be balanced if you can reach most places too easily.
Oh the other hand we can implement loam deposites (another material) which can be dug out and used for ease construction, though I do not like this idea either
Maybe enable manufacturing loam from earth and water, not realistic, but who cares.
