That was a joke of mine. I often have problems fitting jokes which heavily rely on pronounciation - like this one - into textual form.
Use " .".
Actually don't. Please refrain from using such absurd notation in written language, if one feels the urge to do so here.
>Please refrain from using such absurd notation in written language
The French always do so with "!" and "?" :C
(And: yes, I know that behavior isn't universal, but as it's common in the Clonk community, it might also be used here)
I don't get it
I think they're saying that, to make a joke, one should reply with a post consisting of just "." or "?" or "!", as a method of conveying one's reaction, opinion or feelings in a concise manner.
Conveying which reaction, which feelings? What opinion does "." convey? And what does this have to do with a joke?
No. If you look closely, in Luchs' posting (Use " .") there is a blank space in front of the full stop. In the original Clonk community, it's a habit that you mark an ironic comment with such a blank space. So, for example, "you suck." is meant as it is written, while "you suck ." is a joke.
Outside the Clonk community, it's a terrible idea to try this - nobody will understand it, and assume the space is caused by sloppy typing.

Ah. That behaviour doesn't carry over to the international forum. Perhaps if more people from the German forum bothered to visit us/grumble grumble.
Aber... Was, willst du das jetzt rauchen?
Aber... Was, willst du das jetzt rauchen?
That's fine by me, its usage just translates to a lose-lose situation.
I don't understand, what do you mean?
> Was, willst du das jetzt rauchen?
I don't understand, what do you mean?
>I don't understand, what do you mean?
You'd know if you were on the international forum.
FOR GONDOR!
> You'd know if
My point exactly.
I don't understand, what do you mean?
The problem in the German clonk.de forum is that a lot of "." irony posts result in two or three extra posts about nothing. And I just don't like the notation, but if everyone does I may adapt.
Like that irony post here didn't result in two or three extra posts.. ;P
It is a tad better than relying on the huge amount of insider knowledge often required to detect that a post is meant to be ironic. Incidentally, that was the reason the ";-)" notation was invented originally, so the problem is definitely real...
