Gr8t.
But for a "more or less simple windmill" there are very much polys. :o
Hm. Ehrm ... *gimp*
![](https://attach.openclonk.org/avatars/79-5162.png)
if i'd leave them out, the whole construktion would look verry static and not that smooth it would. i like it more that way.

Perhaps we need to reduce the polycount later but don't worry about that now. We don't have any test results yet on how many polys one building should have anyway.

Supports the OGRE-Format LOD?
That would make things easier. :)
The engine itself does, I don't know if the format supports it, and if it does, whether the common exporters do.

:D

Me too.
But imagine you have many buildings/objects on the screen. :o
> very much polys
After a quick estimate we came to the conclusion that 1300 triangles are probably not too many. Until I get off my lazy derrière and finish coding though, it's all guesswork.

Wow, awesome model! I like the added details like this power connector(?) on the bottom, the wooden planks and that roof :D

Thanks :) the guess that it is a power connector is right. i though i should made smoething you can connct Cables to, because the original windmill does not has something like this.
i like the planks too :) if there will be good zoom and more allowed polys, i though of adding some ropes or big nails wich connect them to the mainpart. wow, i wonder why everyone like this roof :)
sry for my bad english :I

For zoom, we aim it to be 3x the size now as the standard/maximum zoom. But that's not really set.
![](https://attach.openclonk.org/avatars/79-5162.png)
what about making extra moddels for high-zoom? but that would cuse higher file size...
![](https://attach.openclonk.org/avatars/40-4021.png)
Will it be smooth zooming or skipping?
![](https://attach.openclonk.org/avatars/29-2030.png)
Probably smooth. It's working right now and looks cool.

*agree* :)

Low-poly version with ~250 Faces. The image is the UV-map template for texturing. Anyone has some neat textures for the wings and the beams/planks?

I prefer some "cuts" in the wood at the length of the bars. Maybe you make the roof wood-ish too?
![](https://attach.openclonk.org/avatars/35-6865.png)
Darker wooden shingles might fit well for the roof.

Also test a metal roof (as this is the part of the construction that has to stand the force of the wind wheel).
Zelda!

Done. ~230 Faces. License is CC-BY.

I don't like the thingy on the top, where the rotor is attached... Couldn't the separation between steel and wood be sharper?
[Edit:] Browser resize said, it would look fine ingame... *cough*
