Finished making the grappler. And recently came up with an idea of introducing yet another trading good in the world of clonk:

The Rope

Ropes are made, for example, from cotton (which grows near the base - it can be gathered and processed into rope inside, for example, Tailoring Workshop). Why cotton? You can make cloth from it as well.

Ropes can be used in various production processes: from grapples and rope ladders to ships (if we are going to have any) and hot-air balloons.

So, thumbs up for the rope!!!

P.S. Again just a thought: grappler can cost 1xRope and 1xMetal (while rope ladder will cost 1xRope and 1xWood).

I do not insist on having cotton and this kind of stuff around (It would just complicate things and add nothing in particular to the gameplay). But I would like the idea of implementing rope as trading/production/construction good very much.

>i think we should make ropes out of wood :)

what...? I don't think that's possible.

>do we really need clothes..?

I think we could use fabric for things such as balloons, windmill (the arms), parachute, etc.

ps: ringwaul here again

I can make model for club since I do not see one in the repository (or am I wrong?)

I created a placeholder model for the animations. You can find it in resources in the folder of the Sword as BaseballBat.blend (Cause someone mentioned the animations should look like striking with a baseball bat). So it would be good, if you take this as a size reference.

Yes, thank you. I would be much easier for me.

Okay you can take it. (See layer 2 for low-poly model).

I feel like making catapult as well. Though i do not have an idea about its design yet.
Probably a small preliminary discussion will be good, not to mention we already had one. What I want to know is: has this catapult been implemented already (because I can not see it in the resource repository) or should we come up with another design (and thus another model) for it?

There hasn't been implemented anything for the catapult.

Since Simsi posted the .blend of this, you can refine his model instead of making a new one.

Yes, I thought about this. I will take a look later

Revived old catapult model in this topic. Any discusison concerning its design can take place there as well.

By the way, as I recall we forgot about (magical) baloon. At first I thought that we should use a more traditional parachute for such thing (the one that would probably look much like parachute from "Worms"). But recently I've come up with an idea of cool baloon (not parachute) representation. So if no one is on it - I can model is as well.

I actually have made a model for this, but I am not happy at all with mine; I'd like to see how yours turns out.

Since I am the kind of "wire/rope" guy (and due to this post), I can model rope ladder as well.

P.S. Please, no rope for climbing (I can not stand another pointless discussion). We will use ladder for climbing (the main reason is we already have animation for it) and that should be enough.

how will we make the ladder? Out of segments with nice swinging behavoir? Or the "easy" way, just consisting of one rigid object?

I suggest making a segment:
|___|                  <---
|-----|                  <---
(which would be seen from the side)
And then tying one segment to another (this way it would probably be easy to implement swinging or even rolling/unrolling animation)

Oh, I hadn't known you had already planned to do this. I also need to make the airship/blimp graphics, but I had thought the rope ladder was a more urgent object to create (so don't let me stop you from modelling it).

Ok. You finish your blimp/airship (quite nice, by the way) while I model a rope ladder
