I've made a model for wooden club. Since it is the most basic weapon we have in OC, I thought that it might have a very primitive look (like a lightly processed wooden log). So here it is:

P.S. I attached the .blend file here

Hmm, we can't use procedural textures in OC. You need to make an UV image for the texture. It would also be good to bake the details (these knobs) into the texture, so the lowpoly version, which will be used ingame, can also profit of the details.

Here a little input to have it look more interesting and less like the clichee "stoneage" club:

Interesting design. I will surely be up to it later (maybe in few days)

I actually like the baseball bat like version more :)
(since the main purpose of the bat will be the ability to fling items / clonks away and not deal damage, as I imagine it to be right now)

Excellent. :)

Well, would it be something like this?:

Or (I'd rather say) this?:

Looks nice, althought I don't like the metal texture.

Oh... texturing is always the most difficult part (especially when dealing with metal) :-)

Do not think you will like this much better:

(Do not think that you will even see the difference)

P.S. Well, that's it for free metal textures I currently have :-(
Will try to look for something else later.

i do not even see the difference. looks only a bit more lightened.

try some dented, worn and rusty metal texture on that one.

Like this one?

You see, in the end the texture does not matter that much. I suppose, there are also lighting, general placement and everything else that should be tweaked...

And we will not have this exact model even if the concept is approved by the community

The texture does make a difference. I like the last picture a lot better.

for which zoom did you model this???
Parent - - By Newton [de] Date 2010-04-13 11:28
I second Carli. The polycount is much too high. Remember that the club should look ok on max 64x64
Parent - By AlteredARMOR [ua] Date 2010-04-13 13:04
It is power of 64... Oh, I remember, 256x256.
Though this is not the final variant (inventory image, maybe?) - I always have problems with UV-textures :-(

Alright, if anyone has time/inspiration for some paintwork, be my guest (for I do not, sorry).

I don't think this much detail in the geometry is not needed at all. You should post the .blend too or commit it to the repository.

Could you? I can finish the club easily enough.
Sorry, didn't see you had already committed it.
