I'm still hoping that we can find a better name than OpenClonk. I want a name at least as good as Golden Wipf Edition!

Don't forget that we can't use "Clonk <something>", those are reserved for Clonk titles from Redwolf Design. For details, see http://hg.openclonk.org/file/tip/licenses/clonk_trademark_license.txt

For titles that contain "Clonk" we can only use titles in the form of [ABC] Clonk like e.g. Something Clonk

I think Clonk Magnificent (ClonkM) sounds good, almost all the others have all their "styles" eg Black Wipf sounds in my opinion a bit dark and evil.
"Gear Wheel Clonk" is also a good idea.

It would have to be "Magnificent Clonk", since any title in the style of "Clonk Foo" is unavailable due to trademark restrictions.

The "Battle for Wesnoth" is an historical event in "Battle for Wesnoth". If we would think more about the world of clonk an name its places and think about its history it would be possible to get a name in the same way.

For the best names you need a story. And thus you actually dont have in clonk.

Actually, the trademark license requires any title to be subtitled "an OpenClonk project".

The title is not bland, it is short and to the point. It's like Coke Cola, what you read is what you get (no, not anymore actually :)). GWE was a nice thing, but the title was uninformative and confusing, especially for somebody who never had heard anything about Clonk. So Clonk should be in the name and on the other hand you should directly see what is so special about it.
I think the idea from somebody here "Unlimited Clonk" is in the right direction and acceptable, but please nothing like "Black Wipf Clonk", that sounds like you guys are living in the past and more than two words are not good for a computer game title anyway.

Almost all game titles don't tell anything about the game anyway, except maybe that it's a sequel or a little bit about the setting it's in. So Open tells something about the development method, which is fine and all but the emphasis should be on the game, not the people behind the game. And having Clonk in the title doesn't help somebody who hasn't heard about Clonk. But I still think we should have Clonk in the title, for the benefit of people who have heard about or even played Clonk before. So, can we do even better and use Clonk to describe the game for people who haven't heard about the game? Clonk originally is a sound, and if I remember correctly it's supposed to be the sound of a rock hitting a Clonk.

Throw and Clonk

The names you suggest here sound a bit strange for English (I like your first suggestion list though :] ). Though, I fully agree with your opinion for the name not to reflect on the development method. Players think about the game, not how it was made.

Meaningless words mostly don't sound as cool; but I didn't intentionally copy words from other game titles, I was just writing down what sounded fantastical.

EDIT: So I'm not the only one who thinks SteamClonk would be a good idea? :D
