D:

It wont be clonk anymore.

Adding mouse to the game will completely ruin the nice chilly feeling of clonk.  I don't understand why everything has to be so easy for the newcomers. It is like all gamers are brain dead zombies that are like "Feed me with games!!!" *opens up a game*  "This sucked! I have to think to play it! Screw it! Lets play this one instead! It saw a nice trailer of it with explosions!"

I think it is pathetic that the gamercommunity these days demands these sort of things and that is nothing that should be encouraged. I mean, more complicated games might be harder to learn, but it is most often worth it. Most games that are really easy to learn is really shallow. I don't want clonk to become like that.

... which is exactly the point of OpenClonk: It's not going to be Clonk Rage(/Endeavour/Planet/whatever).

While I find your rant amusing, as it exactly demonstrates the (usually) unfounded "no change forevar!11" attitude, you're missing the point of the revised controls concept. There's no dumbing down, but rather an attempt for improvement. For example: Were you able to throw Flints in arbitrary directions, as far as you like? These suggestions make it possible.

I prefer the keyboard control either. I always loved the one-handed control since it gives me the possibility to do other stuff beside (phone calls, scratching my nose...).
But to decide we should just try the mouse control (maybe someone writes a small prototype). If it's more fun, take it. If it's not, back to the keyboard.

I already wrote it: difficulty should come from the GAMEPLAY, not from the CONTROLS. Making clonk easier to play doesn't mean that it will become less deep.
The point of controls is to give an interface to interact with a computer, not to add difficulty, or gameplay mechanism. That's gameplay's job. And by the way, as already pointed out, this new system could mantain exactly ALL features of clonk and add many and many new ones that actually are not possible or requires hours of ad-hoc scripting. I really can't see how people asks to make the design of a new game considering the chance to make phone calls or scratching your nose while doing it.. press pause and you are happy....

...here it is not proposed to make clonk a platform game or a soccer game, it is just proposed to consider this wonderful outstanding new invention called mouse, that, how surprising, have been used almost by 99% of the games in the last 10 years. Why you don't critic those games that they use 2 hands?

I just think that you are talking more because of fear of changes than really thoughts of the possible advantages

Most of these "99%" (what about game consoles that in the most cases don't use a mouse?) of games  can be controlled only by mouse. I do not believe a standard wasd-control fits to a 2D-game. Clonk is neither an ego-shooter, nor a RTS, nor a point and click adventure.

As I wrote before. If the mouse-keyboard-control works fine, let's take it. But we should try it first.

I am not afraid of the changes. There is however a big fat problem with mouse control. It removes chill play as Cani said. I don't play clonk intensive. I like to do other things meanwhile. Like playing guitar. xD  That is one big drawback. Another one is that you cannot play on the same computer.

Where is the problem? Then do that, play Clonk! We are not destroying your game, we are making a new one.
