No I just consider it not really stable yet, we had some bugs over the cause of the last month. I think it's not good practise to start working on a new system with the old one (which we released) is not fully done yet.
Parent - - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-25 09:53
But doing that for a system that has a lot less overhead (both code and controls-wise) will probably result in better, more maintainable and more bug-free code :)

Is there anything specific that is "not done yet" and needs fixing?
Parent - - By Maikel Date 2012-10-25 12:31
From the top of my head no, but at some point we should stick to a control scheme. This was also why I did not participate in the one hand controls, I was ready to move on to other areas. But apparently there is still lots of improvements to be gained there.

One thing pops up, control of interactables is a bit disordered.

>From the top of my head no, but at some point we should stick to a control scheme.

And that point will hopefully be when we have the best control scheme we can think of :)
Parent - - By Maikel Date 2012-10-25 19:09
I hope not, cause then we would be far from this point in time...
Parent - - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-25 19:15
Now that is pessimistic! :)
Parent - By Maikel Date 2012-10-25 19:26
That's optimistic, realistic would be infinitely far, pessimistic undefined :D
Parent - - By Pyrit Date 2012-10-25 23:20
That would be awesome! I have another idea.. At the moment it is hard to tell wether the gun you are holding is loaded or not. If the background of a loaded gun would stay green (or have some other indication) it would be cool. Because when you are loading and accidentally interrupt it, you can't tell if the loading was successfull or not.
Parent - - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-26 10:31
I know it's a little subtle, but the picture of the gun actually changes :)
When it is loaded it aims a little more to you
Parent - By Newton [de] Date 2012-10-26 16:47
The loaded gun could stay green.

If you knock someone off the map/into lava, you don't get credited with the kill. It's a bit annoying when you miss out on the point in King of the Hill maps.

It would be nice if there was a way to see what a flag's radius will be before you build it, and if you could see whether or not a building is/will be in flag-radius. Sometimes it's hard to tell when the circle of triangles partially overlaps a building.

Edit: And also being able to see where the actual elevator part of the elevator will be before you build it.
- By Fluff [gb] Date 2012-10-28 10:31
Is there a way to better integrate the chat and the game? Maybe just a little icon when someone says something while you're playing, perhaps?
- - By Fluff [gb] Date 2012-10-28 13:30
I mentioned this before, but no-one replied, and I really want an opinion: Controlling buildings with the mouse. Control+click, maybe? It would be so helpful if I could make that elevator stopped pinning me to a wall, or just turn the damn thing off (related, elevators should be turn-off-able, having a permanent -2 to energy when I'd rather have some more dynamite or whatever and wood is short so I don't want to build a new windmill etc.)

Also, a display for how much energy you are producing/consuming?
Parent - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-28 14:07
To the elevator: ill fix it sometime thus week (disclaimer: "probably").

Buildings and mouse have been discussed a lot. One key problem: how do you handle gamepads?
I'd rather make it not necessary to use the building with the mouse by fixing the building.

To the power display: there have been some thoughts - one was to change the graphics of the flag to include a (steampunkish) pressure gauge where you can see your power balance.
The main reason against just putting it next to your money was, that it is not a global number (like money) but base-dependant.

Flints bounce off of shields instead of exploding. Cool, but a bit weird.
Parent - - By Sven2 [de] Date 2012-10-28 15:01
Sounds like a pretty neat feature. If flints exploded, the shield would be useless against them.

Unless, of course, we want to balance the shield by making flints counter it. But I don't think the shield is too strong at the moment.
Parent - - By Fluff [gb] Date 2012-10-28 15:17
What's supposed to happen when two people point shields at each other and wait?
Parent - - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-28 15:24
That process will result in a black hole that devours your beloved ones, thus.. - I would not try it!

(PS: chances are that the object loses velocity with every bounce, too)
Parent - - By Fluff [gb] Date 2012-10-28 15:45
I didn't mean "With a flint", I just meant "What's supposed to happen when two people point shields at each other and wait?"

It's supposed they'll look silly.

We know that. We just don't care. We want a game that's fun for us to play, too.

Huh? Did you click the link?

Ah, no, I thought you'd linked that article...
Parent - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-28 18:53
The same that is supposed to happen with two bowmen who do not attack each other, I suppose
Parent - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-28 15:09
See Sven. That was intended

Pressing escape or alt+x closes a game in the lobby. An "Are you sure?" box would be really nice. Especially because a) c and x are right next to each other, so it's easy to accidentally close the round instead of opening the chat, and b) you have to press escape to close the chat window instead of alt+c (at the moment, I know this is a reported bug) and if you accidentally press escape twice, you're screwed.

How do you harvest the berries in Gold Rush?
Parent - By Ringwaul [ca] Date 2012-10-30 02:00

>How do you harvest the berries in Gold Rush?

I think you just hit space on them. Apparently they only grow back if you give them water, though.

>How do you harvest the berries in Gold Rush?

Someone broke that for the release :(
You can "harvest" them with a sickle there. But due to an error, you will throw away your sickle in that process (you still get the berry).
This is already fixed for the next version (where it is reverted to pressing [Space] in front of them)
Parent - By Clonkonaut [de] Date 2012-10-30 07:35
Ah, damn.

"Oh god, these berrys are so hard to harvest. I may need a sickle. Damn, they are so tight on that bush. I just can't pick them with my hands. I really do need a sickle for that!"

(just making fun)
Parent - By Caesar [de] Date 2012-10-30 20:50
*pokes you with a spike*
Parent - By Zapper [de] Date 2012-10-30 20:59
"OH AND I BETTER THROW MY SICKLE AT THEM!"

..because that's exactly what happens in the current release!
Parent - - By Ringwaul [ca] Date 2012-10-31 00:53
The berry bushes are actually carnivorous and the sickle is to fend off assaulting vines. Clonks were programmed to be too cowardly though, so they just kept dropping them.
